Friends of Toyo Bunko

Since its foundation in 1924, Toyo Bunko has been consistently striving for the collection and preservation of books on Asia and the study and dissemination of Asian studies, which is the purpose set forth by our founder, Iwasaki Hisaya. The Friends of Toyo Bunko has been established to provide a forum for exchange among the people who are involved in the mission of Toyo Bunko, including regular museum and library visitors, attendees of the Oriental Studies Lecture Series and various lecture meetings, and executives and research fellows.

Guide for Joining the Friends of Toyo Bunko

Toyo Bunko invites those who are interested to become members of the Friends of Toyo Bunko, an association which supports the activities of Toyo Bunko.

Initial Application Fee	¥1,000
Annual Fee	¥5,000 Membership fee covers one year from the day the individual becomes a member.
Advantages of Membership	Members receive a membership card which also can serve as a reader’s card for the library. Members do not need to pay to view museum exhibits, and up to three individuals who accompany a member can view the exhibit at half price. (The member must show the membership card.) When Members purchase goods at the Marco Polo Museum Shop, they receive a 20% discount on Marco Polo brand goods. Members receive a 20% discount on charges for the copy service in the reading room. (The member must show the membership card. This discount does not apply to special types of copying, or to copies the individual makes.) Members receive a free copy of the Toyo Bunko magazine Toyo Kenbun Roku, which is published three times a year, and announcements of exhibitions and events. Members receive e-mail newsletter (written only in Japanese) once a month. (Only if you wish to subscribe it.) Members receive a 10% discount for courses offered by the Toyo Bunko Academia. Members receive two invitation tickets for each exhibition.
