2023年、日本とASEAN（東南アジア諸国連合）は友好協力50周年を迎えます。東西を結ぶ海洋交易の中継地であった東南アジアでは、古くから各地の人、物、文化との交流、接触がみられました。現代の日本人にとっては、ビジネスや観光、特色ある料理のイメージが浮かびやすいかもしれません。本展では、日本にとって重要な地域でありながら、意外に知らないことが多い東南アジア諸国の歴史と魅力あふれる文化、日本との関りなどについて、「交易」と「交流」を軸に、親しみやすい観点からご紹介します。
