Following the panel session at the IMCoS (International Map Collector’s Society) 43rd International Symposium on November 9, the Historical Maps Group of the Toyo Bunko Inter-Asia Research Networks will hold a public event as outlined below.

Each selects a focused theme and explains the research process from its origins to its major findings in substantial detail. Mario Cams examines the historical development of the Dai Min kyūhen bankoku jinseki rotei zenzu 大明九邊萬國人跡路程全圖. Elke Papelitzky offers a careful comparative analysis of maps in Fangyu shenglüe 方輿勝畧 and Morokoshi kinmō zui 唐土訓蒙圖彙. Takahashi Kimiaki investigates distinctions between phonograms and ideographs in Kunyu wanguo quantu 坤輿萬國全圖. Together, these presentations offer valuable entry points for audiences interested in map studies. |
