This year marks the 100th anniversary of Toyo Bunko since its establishment in 1924, and we are about to embark on the next 100 years. Would you like to work with us to pass on to the next generation valuable materials not only for Japan but for the world, and indeed, for mankind?

Toyo Bunko has three major functions: as a research institute (academic research), as a library (collection, preservation, and publication of books and other materials), and as a museum (planning and production of exhibitions and public outreach activities).

Although each is an independent department with its own expertise, we place importance on sharing information and creating synergy throughout Toyo Bunko. Even though we are not a large organization, it is no exaggeration to say that the value of the materials in our collection is astronomical. “Good things come in small packages”—we aim to be such an organization. The name “Toyo Bunko (the oriental library)” may give the impression of being a bit high-minded, but this is not the case.

In line with the recent trend of reforming the way people work in Japan, we aspire to be a comfortable place to work. We are, of course, harassment-free. We are looking forward to working with motivated people who are willing not only to perform the tasks in front of them, but also to use their imagination and take on new challenges.
