When it was established 100 years ago, Toyo Bunko held up missions to collect books, research and public outreach. Pursued the missions, and since the opening of the museum in 2011, Toyo bunko have held 38 special exhibitions with various kinds of themes.
This special exhibition, which is organized to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Toyo Bunko, has the theme of “The Great Adventure of Knowledge,” aiming to once again tell the richness and how interesting the Asian world beyond time and space is.
Through Toyo Bunko’s book collections, please experience Asia’s various kinds of people, languages, lives, histories, religions and natures as if you are traveling. Many of the materials on display have been passed down through ages, having survived critical situations such as natural disasters and war. By knowing those histories, we are sure that your way of looking at the familiar materials would change.
