Guide for Using the Toyo Bunko Library

Who Can Use the Library
  • Individuals who are over 18 years of age and who wish to use Toyo Bunko materials on the culture, history, and field research in Asian regions.
  • For those who are high school students or younger, in principle only those who are affiliated with schools that have established partnership arrangements with Toyo Bunko are eligible to use the library. However, we will consider exceptions in cases where individuals from other organizations wish to use materials that are only available at Toyo Bunko. Individuals wishing to make a special request should present a letter of introduction from their teacher along with a statement explaining what materials that they wish to use and why.
    *All users should present an identification document when they come to the library.
Library Hours 9:30–16:30 (Final requests for material should be made by 15:30)
Library Holidays The Library is closed on Sundays, Tuesdays, Japanese National Holidays, and at the end of the year and beginning of the new year (December 26 to January 5 of the following year).

Library Services Reading, copying, and reference
Notes
  • Library materials are available only in the reading room.
  • Eating and drinking are not allowed in the reading room and lounge.
